And then April comes...

March had been fast and furious for me. A blink of an eye and we're approaching April now.

What happened in March? Actually, there are only two things worth mentioning...... unless of course, you want to listen to me ranting about my endless CAs and projects. In case you do, make it loud and clear on your MSN and I'll entertain you in no time.

First, Jane's birthday...... which has been given a full coverage in the blogs of the one who stole Yi Wang's Ultraman and the one who attracts mosquitoes. In fact, the coverage is so complete(with all their colourful words, literally) that anything else that I mention here will be an insult to their entries.

Second one took place in the previous weekend. My family came down to visit me!! (So that's what the countdown was about!!) And I was once again reunited with Prison Break and House my family, albeit for a short while. So, being a nice tour guide I brought them to...... Vivo City! And I found......

The very reason that sparked the once feared, now forgotten childhood war between He-Hoo's-name-must-not-be-mentioned and She-is-my-ACP.

I bought myself an Oakley bag and my brother, who budgeted a total of RM300 for shopping in Singapore, bought nothing. Determined to not go back empty handed, he went to Queenstown Mall and bought a pair of spanking new Adidas sneakers.

On Sunday, we went to Raffles Marina for lunch.

It's nowhere near Raffles Place or City Hall by the way. It's in Tuas.

You can see Johor and the Second Link bridge from here. The food? Very nice...... and very nice on your pocket too. 9.50 SGD for Smoked Chicken Sandwich...... shall reserve for special occasions to have my meal there.

And we found baby jellyfish at the dock!! Yeah, I've never seen a real jellyfish before...

Finally, thanks Jane for the nice and sweet letter that you wrote. Appreciate it. =)

Tribute

You're probably one of the most eccentric persons, to the point of being stubbornly stupid some times, who I personally know. Yet it's the same eccentric traits that make things fun when you're around (apart from the fact that you're the butt of our jokes sometimes =P).

You are a great fun to talk to, and I'm very sure that I can talk to you about virtually anything and everything (ok, maybe apart from cars, tech stuff...... bikes...... which you probably are not interested in. Math, philosophy...... because I'll be ridiculed badly the moment you start to talk =P).

You are very generous as well. I'm sure there are a lot more sandwiches to come in the future...... and maybe even abalone and shark fin soup for us to rinse our mouths right before the sandwiches.

Witty, funny, confident, charming and irresistable, and does not let obstacles overcome you, you'll always shine and bring joy to your friends despite you claiming to be a pessimist.

Thanks for being there when I need someone to talk to. Thanks for listening to my rants. Glad that I have you as my friend.

Last but not least, HAPPY BIRTHDAY HSUEH MING!!! And I want to say I'm sorry for not being able to celebrate your birthday with you even once ever since I've known you.

I wrote this so that you'll feel so good that you'll forget about birthday gift altogether. =P

CNY, recess and then 1 week of hell

Let me start with a Gong Xi Fa Cai!! And an angpow na lai!! =P

Lots of changes have taken place in Kuantan, the place is slowly turning into city. The facet of the town is slowly fading away as more and more new buildings are erected.

To make things even more nostalgic for me, the house where I celebrated CNY in for the past 18 years is being taken down now. All those times, eating together in the kitchen; playing Saidina, tortoise, congkak and tinkering with the safe box in the reading room; playing with firecrackers at the porch; radio in the reading room playing CNY songs every morning; watching TV together while munching keropok, dried cuttlefish and cookies; all the sweets and cookies on the table at the living room(not so much of a room, more like a space) downstairs; poking fun at each other with cousins; running to the playground nearby in the evening and climbed the "giant caterpillar"; drinking longan juice at night...... all in that house, now remain as memories permenantly etched in my mind. Memories that I cherish, memories that I don't want to forget, ever.

And now, on the fourth day of CNY, I'm back in Singapore. NTU can definitely learn a lesson or two from NUS...... rather than having 3 schooling days in between the CNY break and recess week, they should've just joined them. No thanks to that, I have to rush back here to Singapore and then back to Malaysia again on coming Friday.

After recess it'll be a week of hell for me - 5 quizzes, 1 lab report and 1 writing assignment due on that week. That's what 9 modules does to you. This will definitely be the last time I take 9 modules. So much stress that I'll come out as an old hunchbacked cripple man once this semester ends and I'll be celebrating my 80th birthday this year instead. Perhaps the path to eternally zombified ninjahood is worth considering after all.

My Goddess of Beauty

The unrivalled Mother Nature!!

Next on my wishlist : DSLR camera, W810i is simply not good enough to take these breathtaking scenes in their full glory.

Now you know what to get for my next birthday present.

To those who are horny and more excited about me getting girlfriend than I am curious(I know you're not, but I'll pretend that you are anyway), I've spent my Valentine's having mini diarrhea and studying for my quiz.

Night Cycling

A very good experience I say, though I don't really like getting speed restrictions. Shaun and Teng Ean are probably thinking of the same thing too.

This year's Night Cycling theme is...... Love Bite Bike! We are told that we will pass by the Registration of Marriage building but it seems that they've failed to mention that when we do so.

We start off at 11pm from the carpark of Hall 6 in NTU and cruise our way to Pioneer Highway. We have to keep to the first lane on the left most of the time to ensure that no traffic accident will happen. The commitee members keep reminding us to stay in that lane. Our first official stop is at McD, where we have our supper. Suffice to say that we'd rather be on our beds snoring away than on our bikes after supper. However, we're on a mission to chase the leng luis on bikes we are determined not to put the money we've used to rent the bikes and helmets into waste so we continued.

The night sceneries in Singapore are fantastic. Here I'll let the pictures do the talking. Fort Canning!!

Singapore Stadium!!

Finally, our destination - ECP!!

And of course, the one thing that we come for:

Sunrise!!!

Shaun's front tyre burst while he is cycling at full speed in ECP so he's experiencing more pain than usual on his thighs and groin. Let's pray that he'll be able to celebrate Father's Day after this.

All in all it's a good experience. The 14 SGD is well spent.

Entropy Level : High

I'm probably the only one who doesn't anticipate Thursdays and Fridays.

I've never thought that any sane person would allow people to smoke in a small air-conditioned bar.

Elaine and Jane had probably used my highlighter to write the Welcome Back note for me.

I probably won't understand the thrill of watching 32 cosplayers faking a fight, like a much tamer, less violent version of WWE, ever.

I'm going to look really silly if I'm really cosplaying this year.

I got my first ever Christmas present in my entire life, and the way my friends described the present made me think of...... other things.

First ever christmas present.

It thinks that you're too yong sui and vomitting right now is shy with strangers.

I'm happy to announce that there's no longer a big hole on my blanket, instead the hole is replaced by many smaller holes.

Alcohols cause rashes on my arms, though the rashes will disappear on the next night.

Bridge is fun.

Drinking vodka lime while playing bridge is more fun.

Getting complains from the advisor of the hostel block while playing bridge and drinking vodka lime is not fun.

As for my "sudden" departure, I'll try to be much less subtle next time. *stares at HM*

Happy 2007

Like others, I have my own resolutions. But those are for me to know and for you to find out. You can make a wild guess and I might entertain you.

New year's eve celebration - I was initially torn between two choices : The Curve or HM's friend's party. Actually the latter one was a much more attractive option, seeing that I don't need to drive and erm, I can get to know more people. In the end I went to The Curve because I've promised Jian Wen before HM's invitation.

I had to drive because Wai Seng's car was hijacked and Angel was basically a road hazard when she's behind the wheels. In fact, I couldn't recall of the time that I didn't scream in her car. And boy it's a pain in the ass to drive a manual car when there's traffic jam. We arrived early, found a parking space and shopped around while waiting for the rest. I bought myself a T-shirt and a pair of spanking new loafers. It's gonna be a rough year ahead - "san nin mai hai, li yat nin jau hai hai seng lar".

Soon enough we found ourselves waiting outside TGIF like beggars for almost one and a half hours despite booking 2 tables one week ago. And it didn't help that I had my last meal at 1 pm. Sheer torment watching them eat while we're starving. After much cursing and complaining, we were finally seated, probably 15 minutes before 10 pm. I'd lost half my consciousness by then so I wasn't really paying attention to time.

The grilled salmon they made was darned good I must say, they managed to grill it such that it's still juicy and the sauce was perfect when mixed with lemon juice. Not convincing eh? Coming from a person who at that time might be thinking that SYUC cafeteria food is the best in the world. =P

Fine fine, my judgement might be clouded by the condition of my stomach.

Next - fireworks!!!

I was getting sprayed with foams left and right though. Still, it wasn't as bad as previous year, or was it?

After that we stopped by at Asia Cafe to grab a drink. Then...... spent our time getting pissed drunk, wasted and complained about our bachelorhood sharpening our reflexes by indulging in activities in which silica circuit boards play a vital role. Mum called me at 5.30 am thinking that I was still stuck in The Curve though. =P

Despite those tiny bits of dissatisfactions, new year's eve celebration had been fun. Last but not least:

Have a great 2007!!

Silent Night Was Not So Silent After All

We practically sang through the whole night, though I prefer to call it sound pollution, for myself at least. I'm pretty sure everyone there would've agreed that we've gone nuts when Wai Seng, Yi Wang and I sang Staying Alive.

A moronic Waja driver made us miss the turning, we ended up paying extra RM2.60 toll fare and wasted a good whole 20 minutes just to get back to the turning. Other than that, a perfect night.

Yee Lyn, thanks for the great night.

Life shorten by 10 years

I've just increased my risk of getting diabetes by tenfold.

Random

Mamak at a super dark corner is scary, especially when you're facing a flight of stairs leading into darkness.

I can create disco bling-bling effect with my phone, hence proving SonyEricsson's superiority in the beng department.

I've been inhaling too much second hand smoke lately.

Weng Kin went nuts yesterday, probably due to Wai Seng's sudden return.

Hsueh Ming still owes us sandwiches.

I eat more than Daniel, not that it matters much.

I've been waking up at 11 am regardless of what time I sleep.

And the thought of 4 guys happily skipping around in supermarket is disturbing.

Breathing in Malaysian air.....

is probably not as refreshing as doing so in Singapore. Well mostly because I'm studying in a side that is relatively underdeveloped (still better than the squalid regions in Malaysia mind you) with lesser vehicles and factories that'll rob you of your fresh air.

But still, it feels good nonetheless. Home sweet home they say.

I've realised that I've become a paranoid while I was taking the commuter back to Subang from KL Central. Every 5 minutes or so I would feel my pockets just to make sure that my wallet, passport and cellphone were still with me. It's so much different compared to when I was in MRT.

Got back to home safe and sound (despite paying a whooping RM15 as taxi fare to get myself from Subang commuter station back to my house, couldn't be bothered though, too damn tired to negotiate). Mum was the only one who was home, dad and bro had gone out to work. Took a good long bath before I fainted on my good old soft and mushy bed. Your very own bed is the very best place to be after a long journey, and I do not doubt that at all.

Friday night and the whole Saturday were spent with family (parents miss me too much I guess), and I had my second buffet in 3 days. What followed on Sunday morning was a burnt tongue, though I had not the faintest idea how I've got it. It might just be the delayed effect from popping takoyaki balls into my mouth during the sushi buffet. My tongue still hurts now.

The whole Sunday was spent watching Death Note anime. The storyline is absolutely fantastic. I think I'll get hold of the manga after they've finished subbing all the anime episodes.

Went out on Monday with Hsueh Ming, Wai Seng and Weng Kin for lunch. Lots of catching up. And Hsueh Ming was feeling somewhat rich (unwillingly perhaps) so he paid for our Nasi Lemak Ayam. He came back from UK after all, he would have definitely felt richer, richer than us at least. =P

Either way, thanks Hsueh Ming for the lunch. And the ride as well. XD

After we stopped by at Summit because HM wanted to buy a cue stick, naturally he was conned into buying a slightly crooked one and remained stubborn despite us telling him to change to a better one. As long as you're happy HM. Jian Wen then joined us at Pyramid, and we bought stuffs. Played snooker after that, kena tarpau by Jian Wen first round and managed to squeeze a very much undeserved victory in the second round.

After that we went to William's and surprise surprise, Bryan also joined us. He's back from Portsmouth for one week to attend his sister's wedding, and what great timing too! At least he got to see Wai Seng one last time this year before Wai Seng made his way back to Singapore on Tuesday night.

Was out the whole day again today and I'll probably sound like a broken record if I were to recap things that happened today so I think I'll just leave it here. Tomorrow I'll get to see my secondary school friends!! Yippee!!

Not exactly amusing

I owe a girl lunch because I've lost a bet to her.

What bet?

What time will Shaun wake up......

I'm not myself

I think I've been concentrating too hard lately. The effects are showing now...... I had headache right after my math paper, maybe the headache started during the exam but I concentrated so much that I wasn't aware of it...... but that's beside the point.

And I've actually spent 7 hours straight in library to study Econs!!!

I'm slowly succumbing to the path of eternally zombified superb ninjahood kiasu-ism. There's no turning back now.

This is what Singapore does to you. Horrible I say, HORRIBLE.

OMG I'm gonna flunk!!!

I must say, today is probably the saddest day of my university life, probably even the saddest day of my life.

I've received my second Physics quiz marks this morning...... and...... and...... I...... I...... got......

93 marks!!!!!

Holy crap that's 7 marks worse than my first Physics quiz marks...... 7!!!!!

Why? Why? Why didn't I get 200 marks? In fact, I should get 200 marks for just being present for the quiz. I know, I know...... I can only get 100 marks maximum but I totally deserve that 200 marks for being the obvious genius. I mean, how can I not be a genius? NTU begged me to study in their university and even offered me scholarship without me applying it. Singapore government is eagerly awaiting my service in Singapore registered companies, they'll probably offer me citizenship as well when I graduate without me applying for it. Newton and Einstein even popped out of their graves and kow tow to me when I passed by.

It's the beginning of the end. My marks will subsequently drop by 7 each time I attempt a quiz. And then I will fail my exam, and I won't need to waste money to buy a return ticket to Singapore after my December holidays. OMG I've started a sentence with the word "and", I'm getting dumber by the minute!!! At this rate I'll be packing my stuffs and balik kampung by tomorrow!!! Damn damn damn!!!

I foresee myself becoming a road sweeper in the future. My children will be drug dealers and my grandchildren will probably be whores and giggolos. My great grandchildren will be superb ninjas.ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you're still offended by this entry after the apology, feel free to bitch to me, but I will unleash my superb ninja skills on you and you'll not survive not remove this entry.

And no, I didn't even pass by the graves of Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. They might pop out of their graves when I pass by, but most likely they do it just to scare the shit out of me.

Waiting on the world to change

The hole on my blanket has just got bigger. I think I have more wet dreams lately it has something to do with the weird dreams I have lately.

Now I feel like a hobo freezing in the ghettos every night. And the rain doesn't help either.

On a totally unrelated note, this song by John Mayer is really good. It's a song you listen to when you want to get away from all those noise and gives you the sort of casual feel. It makes you feel like just stop whatever you're doing, sit back, relax and just listen to this song. So it's not exactly the song you'd want to listen to when you're studying for a test tomorrow.

The lyrics makes you stop and ponder a while about the world around you, which is a refreshing change from the usual I-love-you cheesy lyrics and I-hate-everything-around-me emo lyrics.

John Mayer - Waiting On The World To Change

me and all my friends
we're all misunderstood
they say we stand for nothing and
there's no way we ever could
now we see everything that's going wrong
with the world and those who lead it
we just feel like we don't have the means
to rise above and beat it

so we keep waiting
waiting on the world to change
we keep on waiting
waiting on the world to change

it's hard to beat the system
when we're standing at a distance
so we keep waiting
waiting on the world to change
now if we had the power
to bring our neighbors home from war
they would have never missed a Christmas
no more ribbons on their door
and when you trust your television
what you get is what you got
cause when they own the information, oh
they can bend it all they want

that's why we're waiting
waiting on the world to change
we keep on waiting
waiting on the world to change

it's not that we don't care,
we just know that the fight ain't fair
so we keep on waiting
waiting on the world to change

and we're still waiting
waiting on the world to change
we keep on waiting waiting on the world to change
one day our generation
is gonna rule the population
so we keep on waiting
waiting on the world to change

we keep on waiting
waiting on the world to change

You know....

that your life has reached an all time low when your past time activity choices are limited to mugging Materials Science and watching Street Fighter II clips only.

Warning, not for faint hearted

Honestly, I don't like to compete. But I'm an ego maniac......

Funny how I don't like competition and yet I have the urge to compare myself with others who are better than me.

I've never felt more contradictory than ever.

I don't enjoy competing and yet I want to be competitive so that I can be better than the rest, and maybe even the best, if possible.

And I feel the frustration more than ever...... I feel out of place...... I feel so unnatural, so hollow...... I don't even know if I'm myself anymore.

Say What?

While I was having afternoon nap, my phone rang.

Me : Hello?

Friend : Hey erm...... do you know what's the formula to find the sector of a circle?

Me : .......................

Thanks for disrupting my nap over something that you've learned in Form 3. Next time you should try this immensely informative website before you ask these simple questions. Trust me, it'll save both you and me a lot of trouble.

Hari Raya

It didn't feel like Hari Raya at all. No banners, no discounts, no huge amplifiers blasting Hari Raya songs, only Malays in their traditional outfits...... both male and female.

And that's about it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Wai Seng, Eugene, Kek Yi, Daniel, Ken Shaun and I went to Jurong Point ( A shopping mall near my uni ) for lunch. Yi Wang preferred wanking than going out with us went to Johor with his family to celebrate Hari Raya. After lunch we went to the cinema to buy tickets, but Rob-B-Hood only had one showtime, which was 9.20 pm.

Since we were bored anyway, we decided that we would come back to Jurong Point for dinner and watch the film after that. So we bought the tickets first and went back to uni.

Before I continue, Rob-B-Hood is a Cantonese film starring Jackie Chan and Louis Khoo. So naturally we would've expected the film to be in Cantonese, but we've forgotten that we're in Singapore...... they freaking DUBBED it into Mandarin!!! MANDARIN!!!

There goes the casualness you get in most cantonese movies...... there goes the jokes that will make you laugh only if it's in cantonese....... and it's awfully awkward to watch Jackie Chan and Louis Khoo NOT speaking in cantonese. Yes, some of the jokes were funny even though it's in Mandarin, but it would've been funnier if it's in Cantonese...... those Singaporeans just don't get it. PUT MANDARIN SUBTITLE IF YOU MUST, DON'T FREAKING DUB IT!!!

At least the show was good, despite in Mandarin...... or I would've taken the 7 SGD and shoved it up cinema manager's ass.

Now then...... I'm very tempted to watch The Prestige. Anyone? =P
